Hofner Ambassador

When I was 18 I bought a Hofner Ambasador for a measly £400 and it was the greatest thing that I have ever owned. A true thing of beauty, I have never played a guitar that felt so great or sounded so bombastic. Made in 1962 and one of only a run of 200 it was an absolute collectors item that was worth far more than I could ever have afforded. It should have been obvious then that the whole thing was too good to be true and just 6 months after I had got the thing it was cruelly taken away from me.
It seemed that the chap that I had bought the thing from had actually stolen it from elsewhere and as it was stolen property I had to return it to the rightful owner. I think I cried. Recently though I managed to re-find the guitar on the internet up for sale, only this time for a more accurate price. It seems like fate so I quickly sorted out a same day loans online and took the plunge.
Now it is mine again, its getting delivered on Thursday!

Lesley Roley

This month sees Lesley Roley return to London lights in two very intimate rare gigs. Harking from Newcastle the young acoustic songstress is steadily making a name for herself up and down the country with her self released EP – given an added boost by a recent tour supporting none other than Don ‘American Pie,’ Maclean himself.
Her songs pan out in a whimsical heartfelt manner with the tones of an angelic Eva Cassidy drinking gin with Bjork and the gaul of the Futureheads. Top songs are Mr Sad and Missing though expect a few random covers thrown in for nostalgia.
A rising talent. In town from November 24-25.

Secret Cinema

I recently had the delight of attending my first ever Secret Cinema and let me say it was fantastic. A relatively new pop up event that has been steadily building up a reputation throughout London. Hosted by Future Shorts the occasion see’s a random designated area chosen within the big smoke, to be the temporary cinema screen of a classic iconic film.
The environment is then dressed up in the style of the film and given a throng of actors to wander around in character for added authenticity. This month’s film was One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest and saw Future Shorts pitching up in an abandoned hospital where the audience were committed for one night only of asylum based fun.
Unmissable.

Hoxton Bar and Kitchen

Set in the trendy Hoxton Square area nestled between several big name graphic design studios I’m sure you can already picture the clientele of Hoxton Bar and Kitchen. Enter only if you have a decent amount of money or at least the style to blag it because you will be mixing with social bourgeois that walk the walk and talk the talk like a Genesis song on acid – betraying the slightly down market name of the gaff.
Inside the place is surprisingly large and very very dark, with a long slightly intimidating bar. Worth checking out if you want to impress or somewhere different from your usual but you’ll probably quickly get bored of the presumptuous punters and pretentious aspirations of the place. You could find better and more fun pubs in London though.

Sugar Cave

Jelly Mongers, Bompas and Parr have done it again, this time making a cave out of sugar for London Fashion Week.
The instalment aims to give the feel that visitors have been shrunk down the actual size of a sugar granule allowing them to witness the beautiful sugary crystals that are normally invisible to the naked eye or something like that. All I know is it looks cool and probably tastes amazing.
